Hedgehog tucking in to some mealworms
One of the hedgehogs having a good meal of dried mealworms in the feeder on the lawn. When we looked this morning a lot more mealies have been eaten since this shot, so we must have had several more visitors - including the blackbird.
Twosie was a late baby we saw wandering past the garden during the day in November 2008. Seeing him during the day was a sign something was wrong, so we dashed out and picked him up. He seemed healthy, but only weighed 290g (the safe minimum for hibernation is 600g.) We felt we had to look after him for the winter. We fed him and he gained weight - he topped 800g. Unfortunately, towards the end of January, he stopped eating. He started losing weight. We tried tempting him with all sorts of goodies. Finally, we took him to Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital. They cared for him for three weeks, but the poor little guy didn't make it. This site is for Twosie and all the other wonderful little hedgehogs .
