Our new lodger

It must be the change in the weather - it was decidedly chilly and windy last night, and not at all pleasant. One of our prickly visitors (Tina, we think) evidently thought so, as about 9:20 pm she paid 9a, the original hedgehog house, a visit. The mealies up the tunnel as a bribe may have helped, but she gave it a thorough survey. It's a good job we cleaned it up last week. The entrance tunnel is at the top of the screen and the bedroom is to the right, with a six inch high partition between the two rooms.

Here she is inspecting the bedroom

She seemed to like it, because at a couple of hours later she headed straight for the house

and dived into bed for a couple of hours.

She returned a couple of hours later and had another snooze, but she didn't stay for the day.

Tonight is a really wet, miserable night, far worse than last night, so we'll see if we have any more visitors.

We had the feeling Nightshift doesn't like the rain. On more than one occasion we have seen her get up, stick her snout out of the door (one time she had her foot half way to the floor) and then turn round and go back to bed for another hour.

  1. Brilliant. I really enjoyed watching those. She certainly gave it a good once over on the first visit - no damp, no cracked plaster :)

Looking at 30sec in on the second I could see food on tap so to speak with the bug walking down the wall on the left.

By the amount of food left in the dish here this morning I think my visitors gave me a miss last night.

  2. Yes, we missed the bug at first. I think that may be why she climbed up on the partition. We saw similar behaviour from Nightshift when were first put 9d out - a good few minutes sniffing round.

If your weather was anything like ours last night they probably stayed indoors. Ours only came out when the rain eased off.
